My favorite Spring and Summer flowers are the tulip and the peony
ReplyDeleteOh, you're really tempting me now! Flowers AND purple, both equally drool worthy. And I don't get my tax money until august... Damn my tiny bead budget!
ReplyDeleteAs for favourite flowers, there are so many. Not very strange when asking the daughter of a keen hobby gardener who also worked with gardening in the job. Like wild roses, pink and creamy white peonies, poppies (especially peony poppies and opium poppies), red-leaved rose (boring name for a lovely plant with amazing colours), columbine, sweet violet, bleeding hearts. Scented ones like lilac, old fashioned cabbage roses and sweet mock-orange and that smelly grass we have are of cause special as they are the icing on the cake during bright summer nights and warm spring mornings. We have a lilac bush not far from the front door so back in May, the first thing that happened every morning I opened the door was the wind carrying the scent towards me. Otherwise the most special plants are probably the early ones that signal winter is over, spring is finally here or that summer is around the corner. Like when the wood anemones cover all the hills here or when you go hunting for the first snowdrop bud of the year. And if we step beyond flowers and include other plants, I just love ferns.
As for flowers I'd love to see in your beads/pendants... well, I guess it's also a matter of what flowers are good to make molds of... And what flowers you have where you live if making molds from real ones. But I guess many cultivars are globally spread, at least. But I'm not sure which would work best. Some sort of bell-shaped flower would be pretty (snowdrop, bluebell, lily of the valley etc). They always look so delicate and sweet. So romantic/poetic.
(Or mini roses, bleeding heart -- or bramble with thorns and leaves rather than flowers. Or why not wait for rosehips. Raspberries + leaves etc would be pretty, but perhaps hards to make a mold from.)

I think that I appreciate all of the garden flowers but love peonies for their looks and their fragrance- also delphiniums, the taller the better, or yes phlox...not a rose lover as they are mean (thorns). Sniffy attracts me. Honeysuckle is a must-have. I do not know the difference between a subscriber (email) and a follower. patricia@savage.ca
ReplyDeleteOh! I love honeysuckle—I will have to see if I can get a mold made from them for sure—these comments have given me lots of new great ideas! Email subscriber definitely counts as a follower. Thank you! :-)
DeleteI have so many favorite flowers not sure if I can pick one. But I love seeing my drift roses bloom all summer long. And my daylilies and Iris's always perk me up first thing in spring. And you know i LOVE your beads, so hoping I'll win one of your flower beads. LOL

Tweeted about your Spring cleaning sale, too. I'm often inspired by nature in my colors and jewelry design, but haven't gotten to try making any polymer clay beads with leaf/flower textures in them. I see yours and keep telling myself, I need to try that, but I haven't been happy with any of my polymer clay beads I've made yet, so I keep putting it off.
