For Me!

I can't help it… I have to brag about my uber talented mom and sister! They surprised me with this lovely pairing for my birthday in late May, and boy! do I feel lucky!

They know me best—they thoughtfully chose to go with soft woodsy greens and browns. The pendant is handcrafted by my sister Bethanne. It started with one of her many free-hand drawn original designs which she meticulously traced onto shrink plastic, colored, shrunk, and sealed—a miniature one-of-a-kind piece of art!

And of course you know the cord is the work of my mom—the fabric she used is actually a small portion of some fabric I had picked out to make a top for myself years ago. Yes, there was a time when I was doing some sewing… before beads fully took over my life! I would love to one day get back to it a little more. :-) So anyway, my mom made this lovely rustically frayed cord using my fabric and for an extra special touch she stitched a tiny matte peacock seed bead to the center (on both sides!) of each covered section.

Both pieces are so perfect for me!

And just when you think the gift couldn't get any better, they found the sweetest little owl jewelry box for me to keep the finished design in! Ask anyone in my family and they will tell you that I am obsessed with love unique and pretty boxes.

So now the ideas are forming in my mind—what will I make with these gorgeous art components? A necklace, I think… but now to find the perfect beads to pair them with and then the best design configuration to make it just right. Fun times for sure!
