Wild Ponies ~ 52 Earrings: week 13

This week's theme is "twigs" and for my earrings I decided to use actual real twigs! I went for a southwestern style and decorated the twigs with hemp and seed beads and then I wired on a pair of my stamped pony coins. Perfect for this horse-loving girl!

My two horses:
My spirited girl, Lady

And my handsome and ever-gentle Strider

Lady chowing down on green grass in the early morning sunshine.

Steamy Strider—I love this photo of him!

And eating some more...

Check out the Flickr pool here to see what everyone else mixed up for week thirteen.

See you next week with another pair!

  1. Oh I love your horses! They are so beautiful! I love the organic feel of the earrings as well. Very nice! I made twigs too but they look more like cactus.

  2. Wait...where is there anything about themes? We're supposed to be sticking to themes? Me so confused.

Oh yeah, love the earrings, too :P I'm so jealous that you have horses. I just have a really small horse that says "woof".

    1. Thanks Jenna!! I have one of those small "woofing" horses too—her name is Pepper! :-)

Anke just added themes starting with week 11. They're only every other week, so the next one is for week 15... and I think the theme is Easter. I have no idea what I'll be making yet...

    2. OK, got it. Yay! I love themes. I'm already falling behind on this project again, though. Eep!

Pepper is a cute name. My small woofing hose is Amelia :)

    3. Aw, Amelia is a great name! Pepper came with her name included and since she's covered in little black polka-dots, there was no need to change it. Actually, her fur is white and her skin has spots and you can really only see them on her ears, or when she gets a bath... which she hates! She's rat terrier. What kind is Amelia?

    4. Amelia is a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. She's got the ruby coloration, my little redhead :) My mum has a rat terrier named Bella. She was a little 2-pound terror as a puppy, but has grown up to be really sweet.

Hey, did you participate in this month's Art Bead Scene challenge? I thought of your red aster wheel beads when I first saw the image and have been quietly hoping you'd post a submission using them.

    5. A ruby King Charles Cavalier Spaniel! Cute!!! You know what's funny?! Bella's the name I had picked out for a second rat terrier... only, Pepper doesn't allow me to have any other dogs. She's okay with me having horses, but NO dogs. She's my dog and I'm her human, she sulks if it's any other way! She has jealousy issues! ;-)

I had planned to do something for ABS this month. And yes, the aster wheels were part of my idea! :-) I love the painting, but my idea really didn't come together and I ran out of time. Oh well! I may still make something for it later, since I think my idea wasn't that bad. ;-) Hopefully I'll have more time in April.

  6. I'm in love with those pony beads you make and those earrings are so very clever... but most of all I love your real equine friends Lady and Strider! I've loved horsed all my life and I never tire seeing pictures of them. I like steamy Strider too!
